Using the calculators to plan a purchase

  1. Find your ceiling. Start with borrowing power to see roughly what a lender may approve.
  2. Check you can live with the repayments. Run the repayment calculator at your rate and again at 2 points higher.
  3. Add up the upfront cash. Deposit, stamp duty, LMI and fees often total far more than the deposit alone.
  4. Plan to pay it off faster. Even $100 extra a month makes a measurable difference.
  5. Review every year or two. Use the refinance calculator to see if a better rate is worth chasing.

Every calculator uses the same rate assumptions and official data sources, set out in how we calculate. Results are estimates and general information only.
